A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack
Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.
These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.
A toddler aged three was one of the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later released.
Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.
The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
